Hope you have a wonderful new year at school. I have been following your blog for sometime... though this is my first comment here.

Thought would drop by and send you this site for your opinion before I start using it with my class.

hello!
i was searching through your other website ("the reflective teacher") and found your MLA handbook idea. I LOVED it--did you ever finish it by chance? if so, could you email it to me? or post it somewhere? thanks so much.

Hey Mister,

Just found your blog through Two Writing Teachers. You know, I freak out too. That's after 30 years. I always can't think about anything I need to do in those first days, but then I get the students in my room, relationships develop, and suddenly I know exactly what to do. In my teaching nightmares during the summer, I never have relationships with the students.

The thing that gets me about "twas" is where do you put the apostrophe? Since it's a shortened version of It was I always thought you put it at the front to replace the I... but you're a teacher and you did it differently.

I've never been so confused.

Perhaps the most powerful yet most overlooked advantage of a computer in developing writing skills is as a glorified typewriter. It allows an approach to teaching writing that is impossible with a pencil and paper, and may have its greatest impact in the earlier years of school. This is the first of a series of articles to explore the introduction of laptop computers in a kindergarten class.

Thank you for this post. Being the son of two former Detroit Public School teachers I know of these scenario's all to well. A lot of parents want someone else to take responsibility for their child's ill manners. By the way I am looking around for blogs about education. You may like my fathers blog.

As I see this, this shows the benefit of feedback which is both quick and repeated. I'm coming at this as a teacher of Maths, not English, but I can see great potential for something like this in my classroom as well.
